Weigh-In

I weighed myself this morning, and the scale says:

219.4 lbs.

So, I have apparently dropped another 3 pounds since the last time I posted my weight. Cool stuff! I am looking forward to getting to 200 lbs, which will put me in the ~50% of my goal weight area (I am shooting for somewhere in the 175-180 lb range – if I don’t add any muscle from where I am now – which is likely not the case since I will begin to incorporate weightlifting after my stress test next week).

Post Workout Update

No running today. My knee is noticably sore this morning, and I am giving it at least 1 day rest from running.

I went to see a doctor yesterday, and he said it was most likely a knee strain. He wrote me a prescription for Celebrex (wasn’t that the drug giving people heart attacks???), and a prescription for physiotherapy. I need the physio prescription so my work’s health insurance will cover the trips to physio.

I still am avoiding the Pilates ab workout. I am such a wimp about doing that workout. I think I need to make it a routine like I have done with running, and that should help. I will ponder that idea as I procrastinate doing the ab workout for another day.

I went out to The Keg for lunch with friends, so I will save the eggplant lasagne for another day (tomorrow, tonight?). The staff was very accomodating at The Keg and easily met my meal requests.

Up for breakfast today:

  • A big glass of V8
  • Meal replacement shake

Up for lunch today:

  • 1/2 grilled chicken breast
  • Mixed vegetable medley

Snacks for today:

  • Mozzerella Cheese Stick
  • 1 wedge Laughing Cow Light cheese
  • Mixed raw veggies

Supper for today:

  • 1/2 chicken breast
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Steamed cauliflower
  • Steamed green beans (which are then sauteed in a pan with red onion, and Italian dressing and finished with feta cheese)
  • Small bowl of “No Sugar Added” ice cream (to finish off what was left from Easter dinner)

Wordpress Staticize Reloaded Hack

I modified the Staticize plugin I have installed on my blog to allow the inclusion of dynamic function calls within the cached file. This allows the Countdown plugin to keep updated correctly.

I am currently working on my first plugin that is all my own. It is a plugin to allow code to keep all its spacing in a post, and to colourize certain types of code (colourizing PHP will be first since that is the easiest to implement, but I will also add colourizing for SQL, and possibly PL/SQL). The nice thing about this is that it will play very well with the Staticize plugin and once a piece of code is colourized and viewed, it will be cached and won’t have to be re-parsed until it is changed which will take a load off processing if this site ever gets popular.

Post Workout Update

Today’s walk/run intervals were:

0/30, 5/0

My knee is really hurting today after the run. I am going to make an appointment with my doctor in order to get a referal to see a physiotherapist (I need the referal in order to have my health insurance cover the physiotherapy costs). The Wellness Institute has a physiotherapy clinic right at the institute that I will make use of if I can.

Post Workout Update

Well, my knee wasn’t bothering me too much, so I went for my run today. The walk/run intervals today were:

0/30, 5/0

I am contemplating adding a “faster run” interval as part of my overall run. For example, for 30 seconds out of every five minutes I will push myself to run very fast to stress my breathing and conditioning a bit more, etc. I am not sure when I want to start doing that. Perhaps in the next few days depending on how my knee feels.

Speaking of my knee, it started hurting when I was in my 5 minute cooldown walk. It is very sore now. I bought some Rub-A535 cold/hot patches this past weekend, and am trying one today to see if it helps with the pain at all.

I will get off my ass and do the Pilates ab workout after work even if it kills me.

Post Workout Update

I ran again today. My walk/run intervals today were:

0/30, 5/0

So, the 30 minute non-stop continues. My knee is absolutely killing me right now. I am going to the drugstore to buy a wrap or something to (hopefully) help.

I noticed that my pace was a little bit faster today. Listening to dance music really makes you increase your pace almost unconsciously. I can tell I am running faster because I try to pay attention to how I breath while I run, and I was defintely increasing the rapidness of my breathing as I was running. I did the last 1/4 of the track at the end of today’s run at a very fast pace.

I may need to take a day off running to give my knee another chance to rest.
