In the interest of posting something new to my blog (I haven’t found any new rants in the last couple weeks that I want to share), I will post about the books I am reading. I received an order from Amazon.ca this past weekend, and here is some reading I will be doing over the next little while.
First, the book I am currently working on is A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. So far, so good. He adds humour to his writing which makes the topics easier to handle for the average person.
The next book on my list is, Memoirs of a Geisha: A Novel by Arthur Golden. I can’t really rate the book as of yet, since I haven’t read it, but here is a snippet about the book from the Amazon.ca editorial:
“Readers experience the entire life of a geisha, from her origins as an orphaned fishing-village girl in 1929 to her triumphant auction of her mizuage (virginity) for a record price as a teenager to her reminiscent old age as the distinguished mistress of the powerful patron of her dreams.”
Finally, after a long time, I broke down and payed the excessive price requested for a DVD of a musical that I have wanted for a long time. I give you Into The Woods. I am no connaisseur of musicals, or theatre in general, but this one musical that I really enjoyed. It is funny and well written. I think I will be buying more musicals on DVD in the future.
